The Loneliness Pandemic is killing Romania’s elderly.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, every one of us experienced what it feels like to be housebound and alone.
Spending time with other people is a basic human need. Prolonged loneliness can lead to depression and anxiety, which can result in a sharp decline in mental and physical health.
There are over 3.4 million Romanians today over the age of 65 – and 1 in 4 elderly in urban areas is very lonely. Even more, half of the Romanian seniors have no social support. For them, lockdown will never end.
Never Alone – Friends of the Elderly is an organization dedicated to solving the Loneliness Pandemic for our elderly. Our recent research has unearthed the vast scale of the problem, as well as giving our elderly people a platform for their voices to be heard.
Everyday volunteers from Never Alone visit hundreds of old people across the country, to help with daily tasks, to offer food packages, to accompany them to the doctor or just to take them for a coffee. Even the smallest human interaction can be a lifeline.
But Never Alone is a small organization and they cannot reach every elderly person who desperately needs their help. That is why they we need your support, so we can reach every single senior citizen in Romania who faces their last years alone.

This year, Endava, as Central Europe region has joined the Never Alone fundraising campaign, supporting the cause from Romania, Moldova and Bulgaria. Starting with 14th December until 17th January, no less than 800 elderly will benefit from the donations raised.

Asociația Niciodată Singur – Prietenii Vârstnicilor este o organizație non-profit înființată în decembrie 2015 cu sprijinul asociației franceze Les Petits Frères des Pauvres, ONG cu o experiență de 70 de ani în asistența persoanelor 60+. Prin programele sale, Asociația Niciodată Singur are ca scop combaterea izolării sociale, a sentimentului de singurătate și a sărăciei vârstnicilor din România prin mobilizarea voluntarilor și a comunităților locale. Organizația funcționează în București, Brăila, Constanța, Pitești, Ploiești, Cluj-Napoca, Iași, Brașov, Târgoviște, Timișoara și Râmnicu Vâlcea.
Sprijin pentru bunicii singuri
Asociația Niciodată Singur - Prietenii Vârstnicilor oferă sprijin moral, practic și material pentru 300 de vârstnici care locuiesc singuri și alți 485 din căminele de bătrâni.
